I think I've just about destroyed my friendship with SM. I sent her an email today because I was feeling especially down and I must have gone too far because she was really annoyed (justifiably, I'm a depressing lunatic). I ended up writing back, apologising profusely and I suggested that maybe it's for the best if I don't talk to her any more. I feel like our friendship has fallen apart over the last couple of months anyway. She never wants to talk and only says the barest minimum and all I ever do is complain about how bad I'm feeling. read more » |

This afternoon I had an appointment with the Dietitian at NNMC. It went very well; according to her scale I lost 7 more pounds: from 224 to 217 ! So I am right pleased with that. Things were slow at work and tomorrow is Friday. Hopefully someone won't give me a huge mess that they need fixed right away... |

"NEW YORK (Reuters Health) -- New mothers with a history of depression or other psychiatric disorders appear more likely than other women to attempt suicide soon after giving birth, a new study suggests. Researchers found that among nearly 1,800 women who recently gave birth, those with a history of a psychiatric disorder were 27 times more likely to attempt suicide in the year after having their baby." Well, it's been more than 8 months since I've posted here and I haven't gotten any thinner. Oh, I've lost 5-7 pounds here or there, but nothing close to my goal of 60 (I think more like 50 now actually). I'm 190 pounds of fat unhappiness. Now more than ever I know it's time for extreme measures. Weight loss at all costs. I'm not a 20 something young girl. I'm a grown woman. I know the health risks, but I also know the pain and loneliness of living in such a shallow society and being overweight. You become another face in the crowd. Do I need to be thought of as beautiful in order to love myself. Yes. Is that shallow. Yes. Do I give a F***? Not today. I don't CARE any more. All I care about is losing at least 50 pounds and keeping it off. Period |

This is a great piece from the Times Online, August 21, 2008. It begins: " Sir, I read with surprise and interest Melanie McDonagh’s argument (Opinion, Aug 19) that if there remains “at least a risk that having an abortion may cause depression, isn’t there a case for warning women of this?” If women are to be warned about the risks of abortion, however slight and however contentious the research, they should surely be warned of the risks of childbirth, about which there is a fairly broad consensus." For those of you who are left out of the loop and have no idea what OJD is, it's Obsessive Jonas Disorder. Jonas for yes, The Jonas Brothers. You may think this is crazy and stupid like I did, but it's bad and really really contagious. The Wyckoff, New Jersey boys Nick,15; Joe, 19; Kevin, 20 have some magical charm to them. In the past year, these three guys have worked their way to slowly taking over the world. No matter where the Jonas Brothers go there will always be hundreds maybe thousands of screaming tweens and the occasional nineteen year old... oh wait, that's just me. read more » |

Thursday, August 21 Ended up going to my foot doctor today after all. My blister doubled in size over night and frankly scared me. I am diabetic and certainly don't want to have to go the length of Michigan in a wheelchair. I have heard and read too many stories about foot amputation for untreated injuries to a diabetic's foot. So I called at 9am this morning to set up an appointment. Lucky for me, they asked if I could come in today at 2pm. Yep, sure can. Just got back and my doctor wasn't please with me for several reasons. read more » |
